Yesterdays Curry Land lesson was in biology...

One of the things on Z's honey do list is to plug the gaps between the floors and door frames of all exterior doors...unfortunately carpenter ants have been enjoying those door frames for a while. Sealing up the gaps would help us keep dirt and wildlife out of our home. Well I got a little testy with Z when 2 days ago I kept finding rat poo around the house...I knew we now had a rodent friend due to the door gaps! Yesterday Z and a friend were talking in the living room and the rodent friend came right in the front door due to the 'gaps' and was then quickly shewed out...and we were shocked at what this rodent looked like...it turns out that it was not a rat but an....

sales in Curry Land keep tons of people employed. Vegetable sellers, cloth sellers, fruit vendors, and plastic ware vendors all push their carts down residential streets and shout into the neighborhoods the items and prices on their carts. I like supporting these guys because they work hard to make an honest living when lazier people walk door 2 door to simply beg. Then there are the sleazy door 2 door sales people...one came by our house this morning. He was selling life insurance and tailor made suits with a complimentary blender! Z was pretty blunt with the man saying; 'I wouldn't go to my tailor to buy any kind of insurance so why would I buy it from you.'  Anyways needless to say the good old American direct sales companies and their tactics have made it to Curry Land and have brainwashed some really desperate people.

We have made a Home

It has been weeks of grueling work and now I have a clean and organized home to live in...you should go to pictures of the house before the work began to really appreciate the current aesthetics.

 Fresh paint and plants made quite an improvement to the main entrance.

 Our living room...and yes those are two twin beds pushed together in an L shape, I call it the 'Curry Land sectional'

 I like how the Living room flows into the Dining room.

 Kitchen Cabinets!...still no dishwasher though :(

 I use a lot of spices when cooking Curry that is why my spice rack is bigger than my microwave :)

 I am still in the process of decorating the Master bedroom...it is kind of a funky shape, but I welcome any advice on decorating funky shaped bedrooms.

 The office is AMAZING...we have so much storage...

 But even with the plentiful storage it still looks like a bomb went off on our desk. p.s. don't tell Z but I am getting him a fancy pants office chair for Christmas...you know the pleather ones with wheels.

 The built in China cabinet in the Dining room - there is sooo much functional storage in this house!

 I have a laundry room :)...Clothes get washed and hung up to dry in the same area - what a novel concept.

 Clean potty # 1...we had to chisel soap scum off the tiles with a paint scraper - it was a very icky endeavor.

Clean bathroom # 2 - Z and the painters cleaned this bathroom for me before we moved in...Z knows fully well the emotional trauma I go through when bathrooms are icky. 

Now all that remains is...getting the hot water hooked up, hang curtains and pictures, and reupholster the 'Curry Land sectional'

We've moved

We have successfully moved to our new home and it took us 12 days to get the Internet hooked up...but don't worry I will give a blog by blog post replay of the random events worth mentioning. Lets start with the moving days...

Day 1- Had to pack our life into boxes...I am more of an outside the box kind of person so I was very frustrated the entire day.

Day 2-  Moved furniture to the new house...My friend S came and helped my unpack and shmorganize, and then another dear friend brought me lunch...which happened to be brain.

Day 3- Ate Curry and coffee for breakfast (that'll wake ya up)...and scrubbed all four corners of the house.

Day 4- Went to the store to buy more cleaning supplies...got trapped on the cleaning supply aisle by 12 punks who tried to take my picture...before they could paparazzi me I charged at them with my shopping cart and reared my arm back to start slugging...they got scared and ran off and then the security guards kicked them out of the store.

Deja Vu or Twilight Zone ?...

A new grocery store opened up in our city... I didn't really need any groceries but I had to go check it out. Inside it looked like any typical Curry Land grocery...it was the size of a seven eleven and the isles were tight, but it was clean. Our first DejaVu moment happened when we looked at the packaging of items in the store, Exhibit A:

 Z and I have been away from the States for a while and had to rack our brains why the label 'great value' looked so familiar. It all became a little clearer when we saw the store's welcome sign...

Oh...yellow smiley faces - Does this remind anyone else of  the well know American Mega store Wal Mart? Or did we just enter the Twilight Zone?

And the font and design on their grocery bags seem oddly familiar too...by the way that is a whole bag of Apple juice, it is the time of year when the apple cider will runeth over! I stock up on every last apple juice in this town...so all you other Curry Land CAs get yours while supplies last :)
...ok back on track, so Z and I collected all the evidence that supported our claims that this new store is indeed Wal Mart incognito and called Dabby...sadly we woke Dabby up, sorry Dabs time zones are bummers...When we told him about our new store he asked us if the man at the door was wearing a blue vest and handed us a cart??? Then our shocking suspicions were even clearer... The door guy did indeed have a blue vest, in fact all the workers had blue vests...and he handed me a cart on my way in! So if this store is indeed what we think it is, life in Curry Land will never be the same.

It's Saturday = Woo hoo!

I am allowing myself to be a complete bum today...mainly because I accomplished all 'my work' (aka: tasks that Z tells me to do while he goes off and Conquers the World - thanks babe!) This weeks work included...balancing accounts, making chai for 8 workers two times a day all week, cleaning the entire house (R is gone so I am left to my own devices), packing stuff - oh and there is WAY more packing left to go, paperwork, responding to emails, scanning paperwork (I used our scanner for the first time this week...what can I say usually Z does Everything), and putting plaster of paris in two really big holes...which while I was doing my assigned 'arts & craft' project I made something special for Z...

...It is a plaster of paris paper weight :) I would show you pictures of the holes I filled but this paper weight is the culmination of all my plaster of paris skillz.

* anyways it is very ironic that while I was making this list of everything I accomplished this week and posting this picture I just remembered that I forgot to do one of the tasks on my to do list...sigh - I guess I will have to wait and be a bum tomorrow.
