always room for one more

Today R packed up her bed and all her worldly belongings and moved from her rented room four blocks away to our upstairs room. There were some financial set backs and we wanted to help her so we offered her a temporary housing arrangement. My main worry is that we will not be able to provide suitable living conditions for her because lets face it we do really weird things. For instance, this morning while I was folding clothes Z threw a white cloth over himself and went to where R was working and made ghost sounds. R laughed heartily and said that she does not easily scare...that is a good trait to possess while living with foreign weirdos.

eating habits

This month I have been experiencing frequent headaches and fatigue. I went to see the doctor to have it checked, all the tests came back negative - Yay! I don't have any weird parasites or diseases. So now I have to figure out what healthy things I can do to stave the headaches and boost my energy. I have been taking vitamins and keeping track of what we eat. As far as our diet is concerned the reality is shocking. I have put together what I would like to call Z and Me's food pyramid which breaks down what we eat based on frequency...let me just tell you, it is not pretty. Any respectable Dietitian would slap me. And yes, I made this food pyramid with Microsoft Paint.

RAIN!!!!

After 3 months of experiencing sweltering heat and no precipitation what so ever, today it Rained! One of Z's friends was so excited about the rain, he came running to our house and wanted Z to play with him in the rain...um, this friend is over the age of 25 mind you. Anyways Z compromised and stood out in the rain with him; no playing, no dancing, no singing, just standing...in the rain.

We Love Mangoes!

~A close friend thought of us and brought us this heart shaped mango...it's so pretty, I do not have the 'heart' to eat it. (tee hee)

frankly speaking...

...Traveling home from the big city last night we had a very talkative and brutally honest taxi driver. Rajesh didn't stop talking for the 3 hour drive but we didn't care we were thoroughly amused while he aired every one's dirty laundry. Things he had to get off his chest:
  • No one can be successful in Curry Land unless they lie. Rajesh admitted that he lies all the time.
  • When people are reimbursed for their travel by their employer they get taxi companies like the one he works for to write them fraudulent receipts and then they hop on trains or buses and pocket the reimbursement. I consider this stealing - 2 down, 8 more commandments to go.
  • Rajesh stated how he hates anyone who eats cows or buffaloes... we did not have the gumption to confess our dining preferences.
  • Then lastly and out of no where he talked about how he liked to look at girls...you know for someone who "lies all the time" he is a pretty honest fellow.

more buff on the barbee

About a month ago Z and I realized what was missing this summer...Summer cookouts! Juicy burgers, potato salad, fresh watermelon, and ice cold drinks. In Curry Land beef is a forbidden food item so we have substituted it for buffalo. Maybe we have been away from cookouts way too long... but I tell you these burgers taste so GOOD! So if any of you at your summer cookouts when you bite into a burger and think in your head 'oh how I wish this was buffalo' just know you are always welcome to come over to one of our cookouts :)

cheap router = CRAP!

I don't think the router will last as long as Z predicted...I might just accidentally drop it down the stairs. 'Why?' you may ask...well I have to hit the refresh page button 8 times for a website to load properly. I wonder if 'owner fits of rage' are covered under the warranty...

weekend pants

  • this glorious Friday I awoke to an incoming text message that my language class was canceled...amazing!
  • in light of canceled class I made lunch plans with a friend...we ate pizza, veggies, bread sticks, and jello no bake cheese cake that someone sent my friend from America...bless you dear one who sent my friend jello no bake cheese cake!
  • all day I wore my newest comfy pair of pants...I am sure they look frumpy since they are 2XL...but I have made up my mind, they are my official weekend pants.

paparazzied!

So sometimes when I am in public and encounter the before mentioned weirdos they try to take my picture. They are not really discreet about it, they point their cell phone cameras 3ft away from my FACE...which I block their attempts with my hand and then Z gets in between them and me. So photo op attempts are foiled every time.
On Monday Z and I went to McD's to eat lunch. The place was packed with high school and college students on summer break with no where to go and nothing to do...this combination always spells trouble no matter what country you are in. Anyways I was sitting at our table and Z was waiting at the counter to get our food...meanwhile one young lady stood beside Z while her friend tried to capture the Kodak moment of the two of them together. Z caught on pretty quick to what was going down and quickly turned and walked away. The girls were disappointed. And I thought it was hysterical...mainly because now I am not the only one getting paparazzied.

proof

Don't be fooled by the beard and the tough guy exterior... Z is a softy...

36 hours with NO internet...

This weekend our wireless router fried! I did not know such a thing could happen. Our Internet company replaced the fried one with an even cheaper model. I did not know routers got any cheaper than the previous one. Z is predicting the new router will last 2 months.

Weirdo magnet...

That is what Z calls me b/c I encounter a lot of weirdos...Fortunately I also have an ingrain defense to the weirdo magnet which is the weirdo radar. When weirdos come up to me, which they always do, my weirdo radar goes off and I can evade the situation before it gets weirder. Curry land is full of the I want pretty women to notice me weirdos. They are not harmful, they are just socially weird but there is a very large population of them. Here is an account of a weirdo encounter that I had this week: I was shopping for new clothes for Z. He was in the dressing room and I was looking though the shelf of size 44 shirts...it is not a big shelf because most men are not Z's size...we both kind of stand out as giants. Anyways a young punk came and stood right next to me while I was looking through the shirts...it was very unnerving and my weirdo magnet instantly went off so I scurried away, while I was leaving the guy said "I was just waiting for you to finish looking on the shelf." (one tip about weirdos: they like to generate conversation, they are lonely) I wanted to snap back rudely at him and say "Your size is a 4o and its over there shrimpy!" But instead I rejoined my giant husband and then he was the one to scurry off. Large intimidating husband is my second defense...thank you Z!
